Eugene graduated from Hillside High School and was President of the Honor Sociey. He graduated with a B.A. at Montclair State College, Magna Cum Laude He received a graduate degree in Library Science from Rutgers University, and a graduate degree from N.Y.U. in English Literature. He was employed by Hillside Public Library for 30 years and the last 5 he was appointed director before retiring in 1999. Unbeknownst to many he was an accomplished pianist. His greatest love was his family. He was predeceased by his parents William and Ann Krautblatt and is survived by his sister Lois, a niece Sharri Schneider and husband Harvey and a nephew Allen Brill and wife Stacey and a great niece and nephew, Daphne and Vincent Schneider.
